Emica Bombas: Committed to an attractive remanufacturing for the client

Committed to the environment and the circular economy - EMICA

Emica Bombas has started with the help of IHOBE the EMBER demonstration project in Circular Economy focused on optimizing its current remanufacturing process and increasing this activity offering value added services to the client.

In February 2018, EMICA, with facilities in Gallarta (Biscay-Spain), was selected by IHOBE (Public Society of Environmental Management belonging to the Basque Government) to participate in a process of diagnosis and advice in REMANUFACTURING techniques in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA of Germany.

During this selection process, the CIRCULAR ECONOMY and the reduction of Environmental Impacts were evaluated very positively, extending the useful life of its pumping equipment -already renowned in the market as robust and long-lasting material-, through advanced repair processes. Comprometidos con el medio ambiente - EMICA

Participants: Sebastian Schötz and Christoph Velte (Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA), Ander Elgorriaga (IHOBE), Manu Fernandez and Jon Ander Aguirrebengoa (EMICA Bombas, S.L.)

As a result of this process, in which the basic pillars of action were identified, EMICA is currently involved in developing ECOINNOVATIVE Solutions. The monitoring of the equipment and their process parameters, as well as the improvement of the efficiency of the pumps and their increase of useful life, are the basis of our focus for the Circular Economy and Eco-design process.

The EMBER circular economy demonstration project to optimize the processes and benefits of remanufactured centrifugal pumps has been one of the best rated projects evaluated by Ihobe for its contribution to circular economy and product durability. This project, started several months ago, will end during 2019. In parallel to this, in November 2018, EMICA, with the collaboration of economist experts proposed by Ihobe, contrasted its strategy and current business model to optimize the access and success process of new technical developments in the market. In this way, EMICA intends to become a referential pump manufacturer in quality, customer service and environment.
